Mr. Michetti started painting some forty years ago, but his early work was entirely different then from what it is today. Since retiring from the telephone company in 1991, Mr. Michetti developed a new lease on life, and started seriously painting again. "In 1991, I went back to art full-time, doing beach scenes and landscapes. I then progressed to motorcycles and automobiles where chrome was a focus, reflection the drama. Back then,that was really what I wanted to do. Chrome and glass, not clouds but mechanical things. Critics call my style photo-realism, but I'm not much for labels. If I have to describe myself, I'd say I was a contemporary realist. I recently started working in series, yet I don't like to just repeat myself. I see what I like and paint it; whatever I feel will make people happy, whatever people can relate to. My perspective on ordinary, everyday objects we live with..."
